The past months were a blur, to say the least. A lot happened and it has not been easy to process everything at once. With my OCD, I have a tendency to think and think and letting it consume me. More often than not, I am aware of what I am feeling. I recognize the joy, the indifference, the rollercoaster of emotions that I go through. And yet, crossing this *bridge* has been challenging. Alam mo yung feeling na alam mo pero hindi mo alam pano siya i-address? Ganon. Mismo.
Last year, I had the opportunity to join a mindfulness workshop. The main message I got from it is that we have to be kind and compassionate toward ourselves. Aside from the personal level, we should also surround ourselves with people that help us learn to love and appreciate ourselves a little more. This is a good example of knowing what I should do, but how do I act upon it?
As you know, last August, we got married. Sometimes, I still see myself day dreaming about that day! Still, the weeks that came after were a hurdle. Google says it’s a form of post-wedding blues. I didn’t recognize it as a valid concern but truthfully, it bothered me. Don’t get me wrong. Our wedding did not trigger this feeling haha but it made me realize that I can do more and I can do better in general :)
And so, my journey in building (better) habits and changing perspectives began. I had to decide to consciously make healthier on how I deal with myself.
Here are some of the things that I’ve been doing:
I started reading again. Currently, it’s the book entitled The Things You Can See Only When You Slow Down by Haemin Sunim. So far, so good :) Excited to finish it.
Limiting my phone usage. We’re trying to have a no phones rule by 9 PM. So we’re trying to do our best (looking at you, M hahaha).
Limiting my social media consumption.
Going back to healthy (conscious) eating.
This is just the start and hopefully, tuloy-tuloy na :) Aside from the above, here are the others that I also plan to do:
Working out. M and I recently signed up with a fitness coach!
Learning to cook more! My mom got us a new multipurpose oven-air fryer and i’m so excited to bake again.
Restart journaling.
It looks so simple but starting it is always the hardest. I’m looking forward to seeing these lists become longer. Hopefully, i’ll be able to share it with you as I go in this journey! :)
How about you? What are the habits that you recently started? or have formed over time?
